UNC Football Gets Signature From Polished Three-Star Linebacker
Walton High School (Ga.) linebacker Ashton Woods committed to the UNC football program this past summer. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound three-star prospect chose the Tar Heels over fellow ACC schools Wake Forest and Virginia, along with Baylor, Auburn, Tennessee.
On Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period, he put his commitment in ink.
Woods ranks No. 638 overall, No. 57 at his position, and No. 74 among Georgia prospects on the 247Sports 2024 Composite.
UNC football announced Woods' signing by highlighting his most impressive plays as a prep and including a personalized hype video:
Here is 247Sports recruiting analyst Don Callahan's breakdown of Woods' game:
"While playing in Georgia's largest classification, Woods was a highly productive linebacker: he finished his career with 374 tackles and led a team in stops that went undefeated until the title game. [He] is a long, instinctive player who isnโt afraid to throw his body around. He plays a lot faster than his natural speed because of how quickly he reads and diagnoses the offense."
Ashton Woods joins 26 other in the Tar Heels' 2024 class. It ranks No. 26 in the country and No. 4 in the ACC, per 247Sports.
