Former three-year Division III Muhlenberg College (Pa.) offensive lineman Zach Greenberg was on an official visit to the UNC football program over the weekend. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound New Jersey native, a 21-year-old promising talent with two years of eligibility, entered the transfer portal in late November.

And on Monday afternoon, the former unrated 2021 prep prospect announced his commitment to Tar Heel head coach Mack Brown and his staff via the following post on social media:

His list of suitors as a graduate transfer included ECU, Troy, and UConn, along with a handful of other FBS schools.

In 2021, Greenberg drew 13 starts at left tackle as "the rock of the offensive line in his first collegiate season" on his way to being named the Mules' offensive rookie of the year.

An injury cut short his sophomore campaign. But he returned to form this past season, becoming a second-time First Team All-Centennial Conference selection.

Zach Greenberg is the UNC football coaches' seventh transfer addition this cycle. That list includes two other offensive linemen in Austin Blaske from Georgia and Howard Sampson from North Texas.

The Tar Heels have lost 14 players to the transfer route. All but three of those outgoing UNC products have already revealed their next destinations.

Meanwhile, Mack Brown & Co. welcome a 27-deep 2024 recruiting class that boasts a No. 27 composite ranking nationally.
