UNC Football: Tight End Ryan Ward Joins Tar Heel Family
Rutherford High School (N.J.) tight end Ryan Ward, now an early enrollee for the Tar Heels, committed to the UNC football staff over fellow finalist Virginia back in April and signed his national letter of intent this past week.
Ward, joining fellow three-star Timmy Lawson as the only tight ends in the Tar Heels' haul, ranks No. 1,117 overall, No. 59 at his position, and No. 21 among New Jersey prospects on the 247Sports 2024 Composite.
Announcing his addition to the "Flight Club," the UNC football social media team posted a personalized hype video and mixtape of his prep highlights:
Here's a 247Sports scouting report on Ward:
"In high school, Ward was a jack-of-all-trades on both sides of the ball — in addition to leading in receiving, the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder rushed for five touchdowns, threw a TD pass, and finished fourth in tackles. That sort of versatility and team-first mentality bodes well for H-back prospects who will be tasked with an assortment of roles throughout the game.
"After the catch, he's a physical, competitive runner with sneaky elusiveness."
Mack Brown and his staff ready to welcome Ryan Ward and 26 others in the class to Chapel Hill.
