Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Chip Lindsey recruited Baker out of East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, North Carolina, according to 247Sports.
He received an offer from the Tar Heels on April 24.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Baker played his first two seasons of high school at Walkertown High in Walkertown, North Carolina. He also played basketball during those years.
According to MaxPreps, Baker threw for 20 touchdowns, 1,823 yards and earned all-conference honors in 10 games during his sophomore season.
That year, he showed great deep-ball accuracy and the ability to rush for large gains.
This offseason, Baker transferred to East Forsyth High School.
Before committing, he had 13 offers, including some from ACC rivals such as N.C. State, Duke, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.
Will more big names follow for the class of 2025?
