Now aligned with a sworn Pac-12 enemy, former USC Trojans standout combo forward Drew Peterson is tearing up the NBA's 2023 Summer League on the Miami Heat.

Ex-UCLA Bruins star forward Jaime Jaquez Jr., selected with the 18th pick by Miami last month, may be the more tantalizing pro prospect, but USC fans familiar with Peterson's game have to be pleased with his output at the next level thus far.

Peterson, a 6'8" small forward/power forward, played for two seasons with Rice University before transferring to USC, where he soon emerged as a top-tier talent. He was named to consecutive All-Pac-12 First Team during his final two collegiate seasons.

Competing for a possible standard or two-way spot with the reigning Eastern Conference champs, Peterson is averaging 12.0 points on an eye-popping slash line of .542/.571/1.000, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists. He's currently inked to an Exhibit 10 training camp deal with the team.

Tonight, Peterson and Jaquez's Heat will suit up against a Portland Trail Blazers team missing No. 3 overall draft pick Scoot Henderson of the G League Ignite, whose Summer League stint came to a close following a shoulder injury. The game will tip off at 5 p.m. in Las Vegas' Thomas & Mack Center. It is scheduled to be shown on ESPN2 stateside and NBA TV Canada up north.
