USC Basketball: Freshman Isaiah Collier Projected To Be High Lottery Pick In 2024
Your USC Trojans are back in a big way this year.
After a lackluster NCAA Tourney showing last March, Andy Enfield rebounded mightily with a terrific 2023 recruiting class.
Though Bronny James, eldest son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, may be the more widely popular incoming prospect, his new teammate Isaiah Collier is generally considered the better player.
Collier, a 6'4" point guard out of Marietta, Georgia, is considered an intriguing collegiate piece and possible star pro, thanks to his savvy ball handling and above-average strength for his position.
In an admittedly very early 2024 mock draft, 247Sports' Travis Branham revealed that he expects Collier to be the fourth overall pick next season, assuming he declares for the draft. Given that this year's No. 4 pick, 6'7" Houston Rockets small forward Amen Thompson of the Overtime Elite, will earn $8,809,320 during his rookie season, I'd say that's a pretty safe assumption to make.
“He has a tremendous feel and IQ for the game to go with elite vision and dynamic passing ability," Branham writes. "Collier is an elite playmaker that can see a play before it happens as the game moves at a slower pace than many of his peers. He is also a top tier competitor that brings it every single time he steps on the floor. The one area in his game that has long held him back is his jumper."
