Prior to the announcement of another incoming second-generation USC star's jersey number, the Trojans made a big show of unveiling the number of a certain LeBron "Bronny" James Jr. first.

Bronny, a 6'3" shooting guard out of Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, is going to wear No. 6, his dad's occasional jersey number with the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers (he's also worn No. 23 with the Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers), for his first (and perhaps only, though that is up in the air as of this writing) season in the cardinal and gold.

Scott Wolf of Inside USC writes that the top freshman in the country, Isaiah Collier, is also going to be Bronny's teammate, and that there appears to be far less pomp and circumstance surrounding the arrival of a demonstrably better prospect. Though Bronny is expected to be an eventual first round draft pick whenever he does declare for the pros, Collier is considered a top-five lottery prospect for next year's draft.

Although the NCAA currently does not permit players to wear jerseys numbered between 6, 7, 8 or 9 for some reason, Wolf notes that that is expected to change.

Since the jersey number announcement blew up social media, Dennis Rodman's son DJ, a forward transfer out of Washington State, also announced his new jersey number with the team -- DeMar DeRozan's retired No. 10.
