Even amidst the chaos of Tropical Storm Hilary on Sunday, August 20th, two-time USC beach volleyball NCAA champion Julia Scoles, along with her partner Betsi Flint out of Loyola Marymount joined forces at the Association of Volleyball Professionals Gold Series Manhattan Beach Open championship to win the Manhattan Beach Pier event, per a USC press release.

It marked her second AVP victory, following a win at the 2022 Gold Series Atlanta Open.

In the final, Scoles and Flint beat a tandem of USC All-Americans, Hailey Harward and Kelley Kolinske, in straight sets, 22-20, 21-13, per the press release.

Following an indoor volleyball stint at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, the 26-year-old six-footer continued her collegiate studies at USC, as a grad student, on the school's beach volleyball club. She won back-to-back college titles and was named an All-American. Per the AVP tour's official page for Scoles, Scoles is an Olympic hopeful for the United States during the 2024 Paris games.

During the 2023 season, the Women of Troy finished as the top-seeded beach volleyball club in the nation, thanks to a 32-5 record. The team also won its third straight NCAA title last year (and first without Scoles).

Tell Alex, were you in the joint the night Wilt scored 100 points? Or when the Celtics won titles back-to-back and didn't give nobody no kind of slack?
