There will be a lot more eyes on USC men's basketball next season. Bronny James, the oldest son of NBA star LeBron James, announced his commitment to the Trojans program on Saturday putting an end to a recruitment that was largely kept under wraps. James, a shooting guard, made the announcement on social media.

James spent the last four years at Sierra Canyon High School (Chatsworth, Calif.). He chose USC over his other finalists Ohio State and Oregon. By committing to the Trojans, James will stay close to home and remain in the same city as his father.

James has had a meteoric rise in the recruiting rankings over the past two years. The 247Sports.com composite, which averages out every major recruiting services ranking of a player, currently lists James as the No. 33 prospect nationally in the 2023 class.

Once he officially signs, James will join a USC class that features two other recruits. Five-star point guard Isaiah Collier out of Wheeler High School (Marietta, Ga.) is the group's headliner. He's 247Sports.com's No. 1 ranked prospect. Collier's high school teammate, four-star power forward Arrinten Page, is the Trojans' other signee. Combine Academy (Charlotte, N.C.) combo guard Silas Demary Jr., a former USC signee, requested to be released from his NLI earlier this month.

James will compete for playing time with four other guards next season. Fifth year senior Boogie Ellis, Collier and returner Kobe Johnson are certain starters. Sharp shooter Oziyah Sellers is the other guard who will fight for a spot in the Trojans' rotation. Johnson can also play forward.

LeBron James has repeatedly discussed publicly his hope of playing with Bronny in the NBA. Bronny will be eligible for the NBA Draft after one year at USC. Back in February, ESPN's Jonathan Givony predicted that Bronny would be a top ten pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
