Report: Tre White enters transfer portal, USC men's basketball loses another guard
It's been an up and down offseason for the USC men's basketball program.
On one hand, USC's leading scorer from last season, Boogie Ellis, announced earlier this month that he'll return to the Trojans using his fifth year of eligibility. But on the other, two of USC's top players from last season have entered the transfer portal.
Reese Dixon-Waters, last season's Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year, announced his intention to leave USC in March. On Monday, the guard signed with San Diego State.
On Wednesday, USC also lost guard Tre White to the transfer portal, according to a report from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. White was an All-Pac-12 Freshman Team selection last season after averaging 9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
USC has also lost one of its 2023 high school signees this offseason. Combo guard Silas Demary Jr. asked for a release from his National Letter of Intent last week.
Demary's impending release leaves USC with two signees in the 2023 class. Five-star point guard Isaiah Collier and four-star power forward Arrinten Page, both of Wheeler High School in Georgia, are still signed on to join the team next season.
With USC now being down multiple guards, speculation has increased that combo guard Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, will join USC's 2023 class. The three finalists for the Sierra Canyon High School (Chatsworth, Calif.) product are USC, Ohio State and Oregon. A decision on where James will play basketball next season is expected any day now.
