Top Guard Prospect Paying Close Attention to Bronny James' Fit with USC
USC basketball isn't as storied as a program as the school's football team, but after acquiring LeBron James' son Bronny James, the advent of some future star-power might change that.
Bronny's commitment to USC has many other high-level recruits eyeing potential visits and commitments to Southern California.
For four-star recruit shooting guard Trey McKenney, Bronny's time with USC this upcoming year could help him decide where he wants to take his talents.
The 6-foot-4 guard out of St. Mary's High School in Michigan has a lot of interest from high-end Big Ten schools, but doesn't rule out any chances of him taking his game to the west coast.
When asked by On3's Jamie Shaw, McKenney said that he is planning some visits to some (current) Pac-12 schools: UCLA, Stanford and USC.
McKenney had some things to say when it came to USC basketball.
“They play more of a pro-style offense that allows their guards to be able to get their shot off. Looking at their recruits this year, I mean Bronny James is LeBron James’ son. If he trusts his son enough to go there, it’s something to look at,” McKenney noted.
Despite these scheduled visits in the fall, the four-star recruit is being sought after aggressively to stay in his home state, having already been visited by Michigan legend and Coach, Juwan Howard, and Michigan State's, Tom Izzo, another legendary College Basketball Coach.
“Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Iowa are all on me hard," McKenney said. "I’ll be looking at the relationship the coaches build with, not only me but my family, too...I’m going to look at how I fit on the team, both on and off the floor, and I’ll see how big of a priority I am for the coaches and the program."
The No. 9 prospect in the 2025 On3 150 still has sometime before he has to make his commitment, as he is set to graduate from high school in 2025.
