During your USC Trojans' 79-59 December 19th road victory over the Alabama State Hornets, freshman backup combo guard Bronny James showed off an impressive three-point stroke. He made two clutch treys in the contest's second half, on five overall attempts for the game.

The former four-star recruit out of Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth finished with six points, three boards, one dime and a steal.

John Zenor of The Associated Press writes that 11th-year head coach Andy Enfield believes that James' three-point shooting is for real. James continues to recuperate from a July cardiac arrest that delayed his hoops debut for nearly a month. He remains on a minutes restriction, but has looked excellent as an energy-changing perimeter defender in his limited run.

“He’s a terrific shooter,” Enfield said. “He just needs to be able to shoot when he gets winded. Tonight it was nice to see him because he was able to run up and down the court and was able to make a couple of threes when he was somewhat tired... He’s one of our better shooters on the team and he’s also a very smart player with the ball in his hands.”

“He has to get in game shape and he is on minutes restriction,” Enfield continued. “Bronny’s done a terrific job of just trying to understand what we’re doing as a team, being out for so long, to get his timing back. I thought he played very well tonight.”

For the year, James is connecting on just 30% of his 3.3 three-point attempts.
