The Trojans' 6-7 start hasn't just been unexpected – it's been inexcusable.

With double-digit losses at the hands of Auburn, Gonzaga, UC Irvine, nearly Oregon (lost by 8), and most recently, Oregon State, their resume looks awful and there really hasn't been an explanation for their slow start.

Star guard Boogie Ellis has one, however, as here's what he had to say about their most recent 16-point loss to the OSU Beavers:

"We just got to be better defensively," Ellis said. "We got to be more passionate on defense. We can't let guys ... everybody is starting to have their career highs against us. We just got to just take more pride. [Bilodeau] can't have 26 points on us. We're much better than we're showing, much better defensively."

Ellis' analysis is definitely true in that USC's defense has been abysmal, slotting in at 265th in the country in points per game.

This is surprising all-around seeing as the Trojans have been a fairly stout defense in previous years under Andy Enfield

There isn't much explanation as to why the defense has fallen off, as big man Josh Morgan has been a formidable rim protector given his size and length, while Isaiah Collier and Kobe Johnson have been scouted as great defensive players.

USC needs to turn things around soon, or else Enfield's seat is going to become flaming hot – if it isn't already.
