Your University of California Trojans have a busy couple of months ahead of them as they try and prepare for their 2023-2024 season. They have some of the best incoming freshman getting ready to suit up in red and gold such as Isaiah Collier, Bronny James and more and they will have to learn the culture immediately in order to go great lengths this year.

Lucky for them, they will have Boogie Ellis, who is entering his third straight season with the Trojans, to learn from at the guard position. Ellis had a ton of noise surrounding his name when he was first coming out of high school and he didn't truly find himself as a player and leader until he made way to USC two years ago. After a 2022 campaign where he became the go-to option on offense and took over the point guard position, he had plenty of reasons to declare for the NBA draft.

More and more, we have been seeing NBA front offices lean towards welcoming in guys that have multiple years of experience under their belt versus just one-and-done's. Jaime Jaquez of the UCLA Bruins was a first-round pick despite spending four years in college and Ellis' improvements over the years gave him a solid case as well.

However, in a recent interview with USC media, the 22-year-old guard opened up that he wants to win big with the Trojans before he wraps up his college career. He believes that it is the last thing he must prove to NBA scouts before he enters his name into the draft pool.

"I was just thinking to keep all my options open," said Ellis. "I talked to Coach Andy and talked to my family. We really thought coming back this year, just adding to my resume. I checked my other boxes, I just need to show that I can win."

You have to tip your hat to Ellis in this regard. He believes in the Trojans' coaching staff to continue developing his game and he knows that with this incoming group of talent, they have the potential to make a big March Madness run this year!
