USC Basketball: Bronny James Gets First Start of Trojans Career
Tonight marks a special night for the James family, as Bronny James will get his first official start of his USC Trojans career. The dynamic freshman had a ton of hope heading into his debut but suffered a cardiac arrest in July.
The harrowing health scare was thankfully determined by doctors to be a curable heart defect, and he has since returned to playing. He has been on a minutes restriction for the whole season but will be getting his first start tonight.
James has been making his presence known in his restricted minutes. His debut game on December 10 saw him complete a behind-the-back block that was reminiscent of his father, LeBron James' skill.
The young James was eventually going to work his way into the starting lineup, but multiple injuries to the Trojans have led to him getting the start tonight against Colorado.
Standout freshman Isaiah Collier is out 4-6 weeks due to a hand injury, Boogie Ellis has a lingering hamstring injury and will not suit up, and big man Joshua Morgan could not suit up because of an upper respiratory infection.
Tonight could be a huge night for James. Should he showcase some dynamic playmaking ability, head coach Andy Enfield might have no choice but to place him in the starting lineup moving forward.
