USC Basketball: Bronny James Impressing Pac-12 All-Defensive Teammate

The freshman Trojan is improving.

USC Trojans freshman reserve guard Bronny James notched his second double-digit scoring night in his sixth game for the club, an 82-74 victory over the visiting Cal Golden Bears. The win improved USC's record on the year to 7-7.

In just 18 minutes, the 6'4" combo guard notched 10 points while shooting 4-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe, along with three assists, two rebounds and a steal.

Per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, starting junior USC small forward Kobe Johnson applauded the 19-year-old Sierra Canyon School alum's growth.

"He's starting to be more confident as a player," Johnson said. "And he's starting to play his game.

"When he first got back, he was on a [tighter] minutes restriction and he [was] kind of antsy about what to do. But now he's starting to get into his groove and starting to become the player that everybody knows he is."

Johnson himself scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field (4-of-7 from long range), seven rebounds, five dimes, and one block. He was a member of the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team for last year's 22-11 vintage of the Trojans, and already seems well on his way to achieving that honor again... assuming, of course, USC's record doesn't hover around .500 all season.
