USC Basketball: Bronny James Scores Career-High In Loss To Oregon State

Is this a sign of big things to come for the Trojans freshman?

During an eventual 86-70 loss to the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday, USC Trojans freshman combo guard Bronny James scored a college career-best 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor (including going 2-of-6 from deep) and 1-of-1 shooting from the foul line, in just 20 minutes (for Bronny, that's also a career-most) off the Cardinal and Gold's bench. He also registered one steal.

The 6'4" former four-state recruit out of Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth enjoyed his best overall game yet as a Trojan, despite the defeat. He's been playing on a minutes restriction for Andy Enfield's program as he continues to recuperate from a July cardiac arrest, incurred while at an early morning Galen Center practice.

Since joining his teammates on the hardwood for the first time on December 10th, James has been averaging seven points on .462/.333/.714 shooting splits, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals a night for USC.

The team's starting backcourt, fifth-year guard Boogie Ellis and freshman Isaiah Collier, currently leads it in scoring. Ellis is averaging 18.8 points on a .449/.441/.761 slash line, while Collier is notching 15 points on .493/.316/.671 shooting.

The 6-7 Trojans, meanwhile, have yet to win a Pac-12 game this year in two tries. Its next chance arrives on Wednesday, January 3rd, when the club will host the Cal Golden Bears.
