USC Basketball: Columnist Scouts Top Trojan Freshman Guard After European Tour
With all of the elite freshman guards that will be kicking off their collegiate careers all across the nation in the 2023-2024 season, Isaiah Collier should be at the top of everybody's watch list. A consensus top-2 recruit coming out of high school, Collier opted to roll with the USC Trojans to continue his basketball journey and the world got to check him out on NBA TV during SC's recent summer tour to Greece and Croatia.
Their travels resulted in three exhibition victories and a whole new culture is starting to form up with their incoming roster. Boogie Ellis, Kobe Johnson and other returners obviously know head coach Andy Enfield's style already but when you have Collier running the point now, everything is different.
Multiple analysts said the international level of speed looked comfortable for Collier and whether he was getting to the rim or kicking the ball out to open shooters, the Trojans were certainly in good hands whenever he was on the court.
247 Sports expert Shotgun Spratling gave his own takeaways on Collier's performances in Greece and Croatia and loved the majority of what he saw.
"As advertised,
Isaiah Collier
gets what he wants, when he wants. He drew a team-high 17 fouls (six more than the next Trojan). He was tied with
Boogie Ellis
for the team lead with 15 assists and also had a team-high 16 unconverted assists when his teammates couldn't finish a play or knock down the shot set up by Collier. He had a couple freshman mistakes, but three-point shooting continues to be the area he can continue to improve."

The Trojans' competition will only get tougher as the year goes on and we'll be able to see how Collier reacts when defenses key in on him but this is certainly a great start!
