USC Basketball: DeMar DeRozan Returns to Trojans Campus For Important Seminar
The USC Trojans got a special surprise in the form of a visit from former player DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan played for the team in the 2008 and 2009 seasons before he was drafted in the first round by the Toronto Raptors.
DeRozan returned to his alma mater to speak on mental health and how it's important to maintain one's mind while chasing greatness. DeRozan was joined on stage by current Trojans stars Boogie Ellis and Dominique Darius.
His "Dinners with DeMar" event featured an open dialogue about mental health and featured student-athletes and staff for the Trojans.
During the above video, DeRozan speaks to the crowd about how being a student-athlete comes with a ton of pressure. Ellis speaks as well and how student-athletes need to realize who they are outside of the sport they play.
Darius also speaks about how important it is to check in with people, even if they are student-athletes.
Athletes are often under immense pressure to remain tough through adversity, but everyone feels sad at times too. Mental health is hugely important, and it's great that DeRozan returned to impart wisdom about his journey to the young minds of USC.
