USC Basketball: Despite Not Yet Having Played A Single Game, Bronny James Is By Far Top 2024 NIL Earner

The four-star recruit out of Sierra Canyon will debut on Sunday.

USC Trojans men's basketball freshman guard Bronny James is slated to suit up for his college debut against the Long Beach State University Dirtbags (that is their actual team name, I swear) after a cardiac arrest this summer. But despite not playing a single game, the 6'3" combo guard out of Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth is tops among all amateur athletes in NIL earnings. Per On3, James is currently projected to be worth $5.9 million.

James' teammate Isaiah Collier, the top recruit in their high school class last spring, is valued at "just" $587,000 in NIL, per his On3 page. Collier is considered to be the better NBA prospect, and is off to a stellar start to his 2023-24 season already. The 6'5" guard out of Murrieta, Georgia is averaging 17.3 points on .522/.400/.735 shooting splits, 4.5 assists, three rebounds, and 1.1 steals a night.

Rohan Baunt of Essentially Sports reports that James is lapping another second-gen star college athlete who's the son of a Hall of Famer, in this case Colorado Buffaloes junior quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of former two-time Super Bowl champ, Defensive Player of the Year and eight-time Pro Bowler Deion Sanders. Shedeur is currently valued as being worth $4 million in NIL earnings, according to On3.
