Your USC Trojans men's basketball team is off to a great start this season, and it’s in part due to a pair of big performances from freshman guard Isaiah Collier.

Collier was named the iTrust Capital Trojan of the Week after his first two games this year and it’s been great to see his comfortability so far.

Through two games for the Trojans this season, Collier is averaging 18.5 points, 5.5 assists, three rebounds and two steals per game. He also is shooting very well from beyond the three-point arc, at 40 percent exactly.

He debuted for USC against Kansas State and didn’t look scared of the bright lights at all. He dropped 18 points and six assists on seven of nine shooting from the floor, although he did foul out of the contest. Then as a follow-up, he scored 19 points with five assists and four steals against CSU Bakersfield.

If he continues this hot start, the Trojans should be able to make some noise in the Pac-12 this year. USC has a star-studded roster, and Collier is leading the way as a freshman.

The hope is that he can keep this up while getting better and more comfortable as time goes on. He is being looked at as an NBA draft prospect, and his performance thus far hasn’t discouraged anything of that notion.

He is showing why the team was so high on him entering the season, and why USC is counting heavily on his growth as the year goes on. Collier is one of the more critical players in this Trojans program this year, and so far, he is showing that he is up for the challenge.
