USC Basketball: Ex-Trojan Wing Continues to Light Up NBA Summer League
NBA summer league is an amazing time for basketball fans in general as it was not too long ago that both the regular season and NCAA season came to an end and we already get competitive games again with some of the brightest stars in the game. USC Trojans fans already have a lot to look forward to considering the recruits they were able to land heading into next season but I highly recommend tuning to some of the Miami Heat’s matches these days to see how former Trojan Drew Peterson is performing.
Peterson was one of the most experienced guys that entered his name in the 2023 NBA Draft as he had five years of college experience under his belt. Three of those came with the Trojans and standing at 6’9 and doing most of his work on the wing, his skill set was pretty versatile. In his final year with the school, he put together his most productive campaign and recorded about 14 points, six assists and four board per game as USC made yet another March Madness tournament appearance.
And him going to the Miami Heat looked like a perfect move after he went un-drafted. There are few franchises that do better with such products and Peterson has been finding his role in their summer league squad. In the team’s two matches in Las Vegas thus far, he has averaged 13 points on 60% from three and also has been able to find plenty of his teammates some excellent scoring opportunities.
Peterson stuck with USC through thick and thin and we love to see him inching closer and closer to his ultimate goal. Do not be surprised to see him playing a significant role for Miami down the line!
