USC Basketball: Ex-Trojans Star Shares Hilarious Story from 1st NBA Game Ever

In this story:

It's always a pleasure to look back at certain NBA players that excelled and recall that they once suited up for the USC Trojans as well. Nick Young is one of these players as he actually spent three years with the university and saw great success, being named to the All-Pac-10 First Team on two separate occasions and also leading USC to a Sweet 16 appearance.

He went on to become a sharpshooter and microwave scorer in the NBA and became an integral factor on a number of rosters. Young received the opportunity to return to play in Los Angeles for both the Clippers and Lakers and had numerous seasons with the purple and gold where he scored over double digits for the whole year.

However, he first got a feel for the professional game when he was drafted by the Washington Wizards and got to suit up with a number of talented players. Young appeared on the 'Outta Pocket' podcast and told a hilarious story about how Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett was acting in his first NBA game with the Wizards.

"My first game ever when I made it to the league," said Young. "It was against KG, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen... I remember Andray Blatche got subbed in , he's a rookie, he subbed in at the free throws, he's walking in. KG goes, looking at the back of his jersey, 'Who is you? Who is this trash a** guarding me? I don't know him, who's him? What's your name? They don't know you, you got him guarding me?'"

It's always great to hear these types of stories from the players themselves because it shows just how competitive the game can get. Legends demand a certain level of respect and Young got to be up close and personal with them all throughout his career!
