USC Basketball: Fans React To LeBron James Claiming Bronny Could Play For Lakers Right Now
The USC Trojans aren't lighting up the college basketball world on fire. The team sits at 8-8; as things stand, they are in danger of missing March Madness. Luckily, there are plenty of games to make up for their slow start.
One of the few bright spots through the first 16 games is USC freshman guard Bronny James. James returned to the court in early December after suffering a cardiac arrest in July 2023. Fortunately, he fully recovered and is now balling for the Trojans. Bronny is finally getting his feet under him and is doing what he can to contribute to the team.
Bronny's father, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, is dealing with troubles on his team of his own. The Lakers and Trojans aren't playing up to par. However, the NBA icon took steps a bit further when addressing his team's struggles. In a post-game interview last Friday, LeBron said Bronny could play for the Lakers right now.
We're not sure if he was serious or just trying to raise his draft stock. Nonetheless, NBA and college fans reacted the only way they knew how on Twitter/X.
I will give James the benefit of the doubt and say he was angry as his team had just lost four games in a row at the time.
If he was serious, that's just not the case with Bronny at the moment. Through eight games, Bronny has averaged 5.9 points, shooting 41% from the field, 2.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals.
Bronny is coming off a life-threatening attack, so it will take him some time to truly be 100% again, but right now, there's no way he could help out an NBA team. Right now, he needs to focus on leading the Trojans to wins and a top in the Pac-12 conference.
