USC Basketball: Isaiah Collier Offers High Praise For Freshman Comrade
In helping your USC Trojans stave off what would have been an embarrassing second-half collapse against Alabama State on the road last week, freshman combo guard Bronny James notched two triples to return the Cardinal and Gold to a comfortable 20-point lead. That would wind up being the final margin of victory, too, in a 79-59 blowout.
The 6'4" reserve guard's play was singled out for high praise from five-star freshman guard Isaiah Collier, per John Zenor of The Associated Press.
“I feel like he’s only going to get better,” said Collier, also a prized freshman recruit. “We told him he needs to shoot the ball more when he’s open.”
Those triples were the only points James, 19, would score all night.
He finished with six points on 2-of-5 shooting from the floor, with all five of those attempts coming from long range. He also grabbed three rebounds, passed for one assist (against three turnovers) and swiped one steal.
That Alabama State victory marked the club's second straight contest against an HBCU to round out its non-conference play. Next up for the Trojans, as they kick off Pac-12 action, is a bout against the Oregon Ducks this coming Thursday, December 28th.
