USC Basketball: JuJu Watkins Collapsed to the Floor After Playing Heart Out Against Bruins
JuJu Watkins is one of the most dynamic players in college basketball, and she once again proved that last night. The phenom freshman not only scored her sixth 30-point game of the season with 32 points overall, but she showed just how hard she fights for the USC Trojans.
Leading up to the final seconds of the game, the Trojans knew they had the win. The score was 73-65 and there was little the UCLA Bruins could do to even attempt to tie the game.
Moments after the buzzer rang out, Watkins collapsed to the floor. The team was celebrating, but Watkins was on the ground as she had been suffering from pain from cramps.
Thankfully, she was only suffering from cramps and nothing more serious. Head coach Lindsay Gottlieb spoke about the event in a postgame conference and revealed it was nothing serious.
The above video just goes to show how much heart Watkins puts into the game. She notched a 32-point performance and quite literally could not stand any longer. We have no idea how long the cramps were affecting her but she played right until the final seconds of the game.
Championship players know what it takes to win games, and that means sometimes playing through some serious pain. We can imagine Watkins was suffering pretty badly up until the Trojans took home the win.
With the rivalry at 1-1 for this season, the next time the Trojans and Bruins will meet is in the NCAA tournament.
Both games have been full of excitement, leading to sold-out crowds. There is no better time to start watching college women's basketball. With players like Watkins on the court, there will always be some huge plays and effort happening.
