USC Basketball: Latest On Boogie Ellis' Availability Vs ASU
USC Trojans men's basketball fifth-year senior point guard Boogie Ellis has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since January 10th.
Per Jacob Seliga of Rivals.com, after not warming up has not warmed up alongside his Cardinal and Gold comrades this morning, ahead of an 11 a.m. road tip against the Arizona State Sun Devils, Ellis has officially been ruled out.
He entered the day as being merely questionable to suit up. Through his 15 healthy contests for the Trojans, the 6'3" San Diego native has been averaging 18.7 points on .461/.455/.741 shooting splits, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.5 steals a game.
Last season, Ellis was named to the 2022-23 All-Pac-12 team for the first time.
He transferred to USC after logging his first two years of collegiate eligibility with Memphis in 2021. While playing for the Tigers, Ellis was named a 2021 All-AAC Tourney player and the 2021 AAC Sixth Man of the Year.
Ellis' absence is a massive blow to his team's chances.
In lieu of Ellis or also-injured guard Isaiah Collier (out for weeks following a right hand surgery), reserves Bronny James and Oziyah Sellers occupied the club's starting backcourt slots during the team's 82-67 Wednesday blowout loss against the Arizona Wildcats.
