USC Basketball: Retired NBA Star Assures that Bronny James Will Live Up to Potential
An even bigger basketball audience will get the pleasure to see Bronny James play in an even higher level of competition now that he'll be moving on from high school to begin his freshman season of college with the USC Trojans. Many analysts and experts are very interested to see how he matches up with some of the best guards in his conference so they can weigh his draft stock heading into next year.
Therefore, one of the biggest debates revolving around the 18-year-old guard is whether or not he is worth the hype or he is only receiving it due to the legacy that his father LeBron James has already built. His physical traits check out seeing that he is around 6'4 and his athleticism has improved tremendously ever since he first started playing at Sierra Canyon High School.
But it's his style of play that sometimes catch people off guard. In the current era of social media, high school and AAU basketball both are dominated by iso-scorers that generate mixtapes every week and score in the 30-range minimum. Bronny has instead progressed into a guy that drops around 15 points on efficient shooting while setting up his teammates and playing excellent defense.
And it looks like LeBron James needed advice from another superstar guard to see if his son was on the right path to success with that style of play. In an exclusive interview with VladTv, Gilbert Arena revealed that The King asked him to scope Bronny's game and give him the rundown... Arenas was more than pleased with what he saw.
“Me and Bron are talking and he’s like, ‘Hey my son’s gonna be over at the… can you put some eyes on him…let me know!," said Arenas. "Because it was just Bron right, his son’s Bronny and he’s in the media circuit, he’s getting ready to play. So people are gonna start judging him. So as a father your like, ‘Is he ready for this type of scrutiny?’ So I understood what he was saying without him saying it. So I went there, watched his mannerisms… watched his natural raw talent. And, I hit him back and I said, ‘You don’t have nothing to worry about!'”
