USC Basketball: Trojans Considering Former Player's Top-Ranked Son

This would be Legend(ary).
In this story:

Your USC Trojans' basketball lineage has led Andy Enfield's recruiting staff to Legend Smiley, a 6-foot-5, 175-pound sophomore shooting guard at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington.

Smiley's father, Roydell Smiley, played at Garfield alongside future NBA star and current Garfield coach Brandon Roy, and current University of Washington Assistant Coach Will Conroy, prior to playing at USC for two seasons.

Smiley is a solid prospect, as the 3-star shooting guard has offers from Washington, Washington State, UNLV, Utah State, Gonzaga, LSU, Alabama, Utah, Cal, Oregon State, Utah, Pepperdine, and USC.

The guard averaged 12.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game last season, being touted as the 2nd best player in the state of Washington.

Given his family ties to the Trojans, he's a prime recruitment candidate. That said, he's concurrently well-connected to the University of Washington, and being from there, the incentive to play for his hometown Huskies should be strong.

As Smiley continues to grow both physically (very lean frame at 175 pounds, will likely need to put on at least 10 pounds to compete with high-major D1 physicality) and as a player, expect the Trojans to push harder to bring him into the program.

Overall, he's on the shortlist of potential 2025 commits given his ties, so keep an eye out.
