USC Basketball: Trojans Star Says Team Not Playing With Pride Following Blowout Loss to Stanford
The USC Trojans men's basketball team is reeling. They sit with a record of 9-15 on the season, and nothing seems to be going their way whatsoever.
After another blowout loss to the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday night, the Trojans have some soul-searching to do. The season isn't officially over, but it's getting close.
USC was run off the court against the Cardinal, with the final score being 99-68. They looked overmatched throughout, and it was simply a poor performance.
After the game, Trojans star guard Boogie Ellis said that the team needs to have more pride. Even as a freshman. Ellis understands the standard of what Trojans basketball should be.
“We gotta have more pride,” Ellis said, softly, in a postgame conversation. “USC’s never been like this. This is not what we’re about. This is not our standard.”

The Trojans entered the season with high expectations of a strong season, but that has quickly evaporated. This team doesn't play much defense, and it showed itself once again on Saturday.
“Just feel like, this whole season’s come down to us not doing the little things,” Ellis said postgame.

This team is far too talented to be playing in this manner, which has forced people to look toward the coaching staff. Head coach Andy Enfield has done well during his time with the Trojans, but his time may be running out.
If USC can't turn it around this season, Enfield may be gone. The hope is that the players look at themselves in the mirror and realize they are much better than what has been shown on the court.
