USC Men's Basketball: Newcomer Ranked Among Top 3 Freshman Prospects
Isaiah Collier is entering a very ideal situation for a natural point guard at the college level with the University of Southern California. He is going to have a three-level scorer in Boogie Ellis as a running mate in the backcourt, forwards that will run through a wall for him in Kobe Johnson and DJ Rodman and a mix of talented bigs down low as well in Joshua Morgan and Vince Iwuchukwu.
We are certainly hoping that the recent positive update on Bronny James will lead to him suiting up in the red and gold this season and that means yet another skilled two-way freshman kicking off his career with SC. However, it does certainly feel like the Trojans' 2023-2024 season will rely heavily on how Collier is able to adapt to the college level.
He has all the tools he needs to succeed and can get to the rim with a various number of dribble counters and can also find open teammates in a split second. Most major recruiting websites poised him as the first or second best high school player in his graduating class and Collier will look to only grow his hype here on out.
Columnist Tristan Freeman included Collier in his list of top 25 true impact freshman heading into the new season and placed him at number two.
"He’s the definition of a “true point guard”, being a pass-first playmaker that makes his teammates better," said Collier. "The 6’3 ball-handler is also an underrated scorer, capable of going for 20+ points if opposing defenses aren’t careful."
"With returning leading scorer Boogie Ellis back in the backcourt, all of the pressure won’t be on
Collier
to dominate the game each time. However, for USC to be a threat to make and advance in the NCAA Tournament, they’ll need Collier to look like the No. 1 incoming freshman in the NCAA Tournament."

This season will be pivotal for not just Collier but USC's basketball program as a whole... let's see just how much he grows as a leader and prospect!
