USC Women's Basketball: JuJu Watkins Wins Prestigious Shooting Guard Award

The USC women's basketball team rose to new heights for the first time in a long time. They reached the Elite Elite in the NCAA Tournament, but fell just short, losing to the UConn Huskies.

The team was led by superstar freshman guard JuJu Watkins, who took college basketball by storm this season. She averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this year, showing how dominant she could be.

In his first year with the Trojans, Watkins has already earned the respect of so many around the basketball world. She just won a prestigious award for shooting guards, the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award.

This award is given to the best player of the year at the position each year and she is the first member of the Trojans to ever win a women's positional award. It culminates her incredible accomplishments from her freshman season, showing how impactful she has been.

She helped lead the Trojans to win the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament and earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. USC also gathered their most wins over top-10 opponents since 1985-1986. The Trojans also won their most wins in a season, 27, since 1985-1986.

It was a special year for the Trojans and with Watkins on the roster next season, they will look to capitalize once again.
