USC Women's Basketball: Hall Of Fame Former Trojan Loves JuJu Watkins' LA Mentality
The USC women's basketball team is one of the best in the country. They have played well all season long and will be a real problem for whoever matches up with them in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
One of the main reasons for their success this season has been the sensational play of freshman guard JuJu Watkins. Watkins has taken college basketball by storm this season, with no signs of slowing down.
She is averaging 27.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Watkins has turned the Trojans into a powerhouse, and a real threat to potentially win the championship.
She has received praise from all over for her play, including from former USC Trojans center Lisa Leslie. Leslie joined Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green on his podcast to discuss the play of Watkins.
The former Trojan said that she loves her mentality, showing she is really from the city of Los Angeles.
"Those of us from LA, it's a certain kind of dog in us... she really from LA"
Watkins is from the Los Angeles area, so she understands what it means to play for the Trojans. Her play on the court reflects that, and she has embraced every minute she has seen in a USC uniform.
Getting this type of praise from a USC legend like Leslie likely means a lot to Watkins, but it's rightfully deserved, She has shown the ability to perform at a high level consistently and has USC in the middle of competing for their third title in program history.
