USC Women's Basketball: JuJu Watkins Keeps Racking Up Watchlist Appearances
USC Trojans women's basketball freshman superstar wing JuJu Watkins has been added to yet another watchlist.Â
The 6'2" Sierra Canyon School product has made this year's Wade Trophy Watch List, designed to honor the best player of the year, per USC Athletics.
Watkins was also added to the Wooden Late Season Top 20 Watch List, which tallies the best players in the country. She had previously been included in the Wooden Midseason Top 25 as well. She's also in the running for this year's Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, awarded to the best shooting guard in the nation.
Last Thursday against the Stanford Cardinal in a 67-58 victory, Watkins scored a career-best 51 points (also the best tally in the country thus far this year) on 14-of-26 shooting from the field (including 6-of-11 shooting from deep) and 17-of-19 shooting from the charity stripe, along with 11 rebounds, four steals and two dimes. On the season, she's averaging 27.3 points on .431/.353/.841 shooting splits (the second-most in the country, behind Iowa Hawkeyes superstar Caitlin Clark), 6.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.
Gonzaga Bulldogs forward Yvonne Ejim, Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard Hannah Hidalgo, and Kansas State Wildcats center Ayoka Lee were also added to the Wade Trophy Watch List as candidates for the award at the end of this season.Â
