USC Women's Basketball: JuJu Watkins Nets Another Freshman of the Year Honor
At this point, JuJu Watkins might make a clean sweep of every college award. The USC Trojans phenom freshman has been making waves with her elite skill on the court, and she continues to be recognized for her efforts.
We attempted to catalog every award that Watkins has been given, but it seems every week she is given more. This week, Watkins has netted another huge Freshman of the Year honor, this time by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Watkins was already named Freshman of the Year by the Pac-12, ESPN National, and The Athletic.
Watkins has been on a tear this season, securing multiple 30-point games—breaking the record previously held by Trojans legend Cheryl Miller. Watkins's 27.0 PPG is second only to Iowa's Caitlin Clark.
Watkins the Trojans have secured a Pac-12 Tournament win, and the team has secured a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. With Watkins playing at such a light level, along with Kayla Padilla, McKenzie Forbes, and Rayah Marshall—this team might be too difficult to beat.
Watkins is a generational player and her numerous accolades are a testament to her undying hard work.
