USC Women's Basketball: JuJu Watkins Shatters Trojans Record
USC Trojans women's basketball standout freshman wing JuJu Watkins is already making history, just a month into her collegiate career.
The 6'2" wing out of Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth is fresh off another superlative night, scoring having scored 27 points, dished out five dimes, and pulled down three boards for USC, across 28 minutes, in an 85-53 victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders Sunday night.
The victory improved USC to a 8-0 record on the young 2023-24 season, but it also set some individual history for the team's best player.
Watkins has now notched a whopping five games with 30 points or more, thanks to USC's 89-58 win over San Diego last week. That's the most ever for a freshman women's basketball player at the program. She officially broke the record during thanks to USC's 85-44 obliteration of Cal Poly two weeks ago. She had been tied with a pair of legendary Trojans, Lisa Leslie and Paula McGee, each of whom had logged three 30-point games as freshmen.
On the year, she's averaging 27.3 points on .506/.476/.724 shooting splits, seven rebounds and 3.6 boards.
