USC Women's Basketball: New Trojan Already Assuming Major Leadership Role In Locker Room
The USC women's basketball team is currently having one of their better seasons in program history, and they look the part of a true contender. Once they get to the NCAA Tournament anything is possible, and all it takes is a few rock-solid weeks to be forever etched as champions.
They are of course led by freshman sensation JuJu Watkins, who has taken the entire college basketball world by storm. But the Trojans do have other talented players on the team that help round everything out.
One of those is guard McKenzie Forbes, who came into the season as a graduate transfer from Harvard. Forbes has done all the little things for the Trojans this season and has earned her spot as a key member of the team.
She is a leader on this team, and takes advantage of that fact. All she is determined to do is win, and it's been great to see as this team gel together throughout the year.
USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb spoke about the impact that Forbes has had on this team all year.
“She can play the 3 or the 4, she knows everyone’s spot, she’s super-confident,” Gottlieb said. “She’s mature….she has a really good way with her teammates, and she’s a good coach on the floor. McKenzie is very much the glue of our team.”

For the year, Forbes is averaging 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. She is also shooting 37.7% from beyond the three-point line for the Trojans.
“With all the things she does for us, it’s hard to take her off the floor,” Gottlieb said.

If Forbes can keep up her strong play, the Trojans will be hard to knock off come tournament time. This team is currently ranked 7th overall across the country and has shown so signs of slowing down.
