One of the newest contributors for your USC Trojans women's basketball team, grad student wing McKenzie Forbes, was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Week thanks to her 17-point and 36-point nights in wins over Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State (for an average of 26.5 points per), according to a USC press release.

Forbes had previously won a Pac-12 Player of the Week accolade already in this young season for the now-10-1 Women of Troy. She joins sophomore Charleston guard Alexis Andrews, Saint Joseph's forward Talya Brugler, Iowa guard Caitlin Clark, and OSU guard Jacy Sheldon on this latest USBWA countrywide top five for the week.

Keep in mind, the week in question was actually last week, so Forbes' performance this past Saturday night in a 71-64 defeat against the UCLA Bruins isn't counted here. Along with upstart USC freshman wing JuJu Watkins, the six-footer was one of just two players to score more than six points on her club, a 23-point outburst against the Bruins on 8-of-18 shooting from the floor (2-of-4 from deep) and 5-of-6 from the free throw line, along with two rebounds. Her night against UCLA marks her sixth straight contest in double-digit scoring.

For the season, the Folsom, California native is averaging 13.8 points on .436/.370/.682 shooting splits, along with 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 dimes.

Tell Alex, were you in the joint the night Wilt scored 100 points? Or when the Celtics won titles back-to-back and didn't give nobody no kind of slack?
