USC Women's Basketball: Trojans Lose Out On Pac-12 Honor With Utes Loss
With their 74-68 loss to the Utah Utes this afternoon, your USC Trojans women's basketball team officially saw their hopes of securing the Pac-12 title for regular season wins wiped out. The defeat also stopped their win streak at eight. USC is now 21-5 on the year.
Per Matt Zemek of Trojans Wire, the Stanford Cardinal have now earned at least a piece of the Pac-12 regular season title this year following an 81-67 victory Sunday. They'll face off against the Oregon State Beavers on Thursday and the Oregon Ducks on Saturday. Should they win both, they'll secure the outright Pac-12 title. The Cardinal needs to win just one of these games to beat out USC, seemingly a sure thing given that Oregon is the worst team in the conference.
The Trojans currently have the drop on the Beavers for the No. 2 seed in the impending Pac-12 tournament, but could still drop to No. 3 depending on how the next few bouts turn out. The Women of Troy have just two contests slated for the regular season: a matchup against the 16-12 Arizona Wildcats set for Thursday and a game against the 11-17 Arizona State Sun Devils scheduled for Saturday.
