The USC Trojans came away with a big win last night, as they took on their crosstown rivals. The UCLA Bruins won the first game 71-64, but yesterday belonged to the Trojans.

They beat their rivals 73-65 and it was in large part because of their star freshman, JuJu Watkins. Watkins once again showcased why she is one of the top players in the nation. She ended the night with 32 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.

The entire team played their hearts out, and they can now enjoy their new AP ranking.

Based on their win last night, the Trojans jumped from #9 to #6 in the country, according to the new AP rankings

UCLA was formerly #2 and has since dropped to #5. The Trojans might be able to leapfrog their rivals in the coming weeks, but they will need to continue their winning ways to do so.

USC sits at #6 and UCLA is now at #5. Both teams only have one loss so far this season, and those losses are due to one another.

Yesterday's game at the Galen Center was sold out, set an attendance record, and was full of fireworks.

The Trojans understand the type of media they are bringing to college women's basketball, and it's fantastic to know what kind of inspiration young minds can pull by watching players like Watkins, McKenzie Forbes, and Kayal Padilla on the court.

We look forward to covering more games this season, as the Trojans continue to showcase their elite skills week after week.
