USC Women's Basketball: Trojans Stay Perfect With 49-Point Win Over CSUF
Your USC Trojans women's basketball team has done it again!
The Women of Troy obliterated Cal State Fullerton on Monday, to the tune of a 93-44 demolition. Five Trojans finished the game in double digits. Redshirt sophomore wing Taylor Bigby led the club in three-point shooting, nailing a career-most five three-pointers, including four in the first half.
The Trojans overwhelmed the Titans in basically every statistical aspect. USC outshot CSUF from the field (50% to 30.5%), from long range (53.3% to 19%), and marginally in the free throw conversion rate department (84.6% to 80%). The Titans were also outdone in steals (14-6), rebounds (40-31), and ball control (CSUF had 23 turnovers to the Trojans' 12).
Star freshman JuJu Watkins led the the way overall as usual, scoring a team-best 23 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field (3-of-7 from deep) and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe, along with six assists, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals. The 6'2" Sierra Canyon School alum has led USC in scoring for all nine games of her NCAA career thus far. Grad student wing McKenzie Forbes scored 17, Bigby was next up with 15 (again, all made threes), grad student guard Kayla Padilla logged 13, and junior center Clarice Akunwafo had 10.
USC kicked off the adventure on a 20-0 tear. By the halftime break, the Trojans led by a commanding 50-20.
The Trojans will have a brief turnaround for college, as the club is set to square off on the road against Long Beach State at 2 p.m. this Thursday, December 21st.
