USC Trojans coach Eric Musselman rewarded his team for their exhibition victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs earlier in the week with a practice at Venice Beach. It was a great day in Los Angeles, and the Trojans took advantage of it.

USC Trojans Practice on Iconic Venice Beach Courts

The outdoor courts at Venice Beach in Los Angeles are one of the most iconic outdoor basketball venues in the country. Trojans coach Eric Musselman brought his team outside to practice on the courts today. Who doesn’t like working outside on a nice sunny day?

Eric Musselman has always done a great job keeping his teams loose. Taking them to the beach for practice is a perfect example of that. There are not many places where a basketball team could practice outside. A beach in Los Angeles would be one of those places.

The USC Trojans took down the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a preseason matchup 96-93 earlier in the week. Granted, it was just a preseason game, but the Bulldogs are the No. 6 ranked team in the country, so it was a good showing for the Trojans.

The Trojans have a completely revamped roster since Eric Musselman took over at the helm. USC is now led by a flurry of transfers. In the new age of college basketball, this is pretty typical when a new coach is coming into the program. The transfer portal and NIL has changed the sport.

Against Gonzaga, USC was led by transfers Terrance Williams II and Desmond Claude. Williams had 20 points, and Claude added another 19. It may take some time to get the team to build chemistry and start rolling, but the Gonzaga game was a great sign of things to come.  The question is now how quickly can all of these new teammates gel together for a long season.

USC vs. Chattanooga on Opening Night

The Trojans open up their regular season on November 4th against Chattanooga. USC will look to get off on the right foot after their disappointing 2023-24 season that resulted in a coaching change. The Trojans went 15-18 a season ago. It will be coach Eric Musselman’s first game as coach at USC after spending 5 years at Arkansas.

Chattanooga is coming off an 18-17 record for the 2023-24 season.

Tip-off for Monday night’s game is set for 7 pm PST at the Galen Center on Big Ten Network.
