Why Four-Star Shamar Arnoux Flipped Commitment From USC Trojans to Auburn Tigers
The USC Trojans class of 2025 recruiting is quickly falling apart. The Trojans are losing numerous recruits and are expected to lose more. USC coach Lincoln Riley is losing another recruit as four-star cornerback Shamar Arnoux is flipping his commitment to the Auburn Tigers.
Arnoux committed to USC in June, picking the Trojans over Florida State and Auburn. Despite his commitment, he has remained in contact with Auburn. Arnoux is a four-star cornerback from Carrolton (Ga.). 247Sports ranks Arnoux as the No. 35 cornerback in the nation and No. 49 player from Georgia.
Auburn lost cornerback commit, Dante Core who flipped to Ole Miss, and was looking for a new player to take his spot. This increased their push for Arnoux, ultimately flipping his decision.
One of the main factors for flipping to Auburn is playing time. Arnoux spoke to On3 about Auburn, highlighting the depth chart as a standout.
“What separates Auburn from other schools is the depth chart and the roster because there is an opportunity to play there,” Arnoux told On3. “They have expectations of me playing early there.”
Arnoux went on to speak about being a part of something special at Auburn.
“I’m also the type of person that wants to be a part of something. Some people may not realize it, but if you look at the structure of Auburn’s program, it is a quarterback away from being a contender in the SEC. They have all the pieces around that position. The defense stands up strong and I want to be a part of it,” Arnoux said.
The news of Arnoux flipping his decision comes just one day after four-star edge rusher Hayden Lowe flipped to the Miami Hurricanes. The Trojans are also rumored to lose quarterback Julian Lewis, who is visiting the Georgia Bulldogs for their next home game.
The Trojans class of 2025 recruiting ranks No. 14 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten, per On3. National signing day is getting closer, and it seems like things are falling apart with the recruiting process for USC. With time winding down, the Trojans have their work cut out for them to keep their recruits and work on flipping others.
Next up, the USC Trojans (4-5, 2-5 Big Ten) will host the Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-4, 2-4) for its homecoming game on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
