USC Football: Caleb Williams Remains A Top Favorite To Repeat As Heisman Winner
On Saturday, your USC Trojans obliterated the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday, 56-10, to improve their 2023 season record to 3-0.
Vegas oddsmakers have noticed that we may be in repeat Heisman Trophy territory for a certain someone.
All-Pac-12 junior quarterback Caleb Williams' odds of winning his second consecutive Heisman are currently the best in the nation, according to BetMGM. Williams' chances of victory are listed at +350, with Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis and University of Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. possessing the next-best odds at +850 apiece.
Against Stanford, the 6'1", 220-pound play caller notched three touchdowns (against zero interceptions) and connected for a total of 281 yards on 19-of-21 passing. For the year, he's connecting on 78.6% of his passes for a total of 878 yards, and has notched 12 touchdowns against, astoundingly, no interceptions, for a rating of 240.5. While that efficiency and rating seem unlikely to hold through the season (during his Heisman year, he finished with a 168.5 rating and a 66.6% completion rate), it's pretty darn encouraging nevertheless.
Williams' success thus far is clearly an indicator that sportsbooks are wise to put their money on a potential Heisman repeat. Here's hoping his lucks holds.
