Though this year's Trojans roster has a chance to compete for a national title, it's always an interesting process to look back at some of the Men of Troy at the professional level.

Unfortunately for one former USC running back, his current stint with the team that signed him this offseason has ended after a short tenure.

Ronald Jones has been released by the Dallas Cowboys. The two-time Super Bowl winner joined the organization in 2023 free agency, immediately following the club's decision to move on from Ezekiel Elliott. Jones went on to have a rough training camp, mostly due to the two-game suspension that was levied for violation of the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, but he subsequently suffered a groin injury that prevented him from participating in any of the three preseason contests.

Jones came out of USC after his 2017 junior season where he rushed for over 1500 yards on nearly six yards per carry before being taken in the second round of the 2018 draft.

Drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 38th overall pick, Jones spent four seasons in Florida where he had some productive seasons.

The highlight of these years came in the 2020 season where he rushed for nearly 1000 yards and won a Super Bowl title in Tom Brady's first season with the franchise.

Moving on to Kansas City last year, Jones played another reserve role and collected another Super Bowl championship to his mantle as a part of a dominant Chiefs team.

Now free to sign with anyone from his recent stop in Dallas, many running back injuries around the league in week 2 of the NFL season could spell a quick signing for the veteran back.

Still just 26 yeas old, we could see the former Trojan back on an NFL roster in short order.
