The college football landscape has changed right before our eyes this past weekend. The Pac-12 went to the Pac-10 a year ago with your USC Trojans and the other school moving to the Big 10 starting next season.

However, little did we know that was only the beginning. In the span of a couple of weeks, six other schools from the Pac-12 moved on and found themselves a new conference leaving the Conference of Champions with four teams after the 2023 season.

Losing USC and the other school was a massive loss for the Conference of Champions, but now it has been completely dismantled, leaving the people in charge doing their best to pick up the pieces.

College football will no longer be like how we all grew up with it, and although change is inevitable, some people aren't fans of it, including legendary USC head coach Pete Carroll.

Carroll, now head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, appeared on Mike Florio's ProFootballTalk show and stated his disappointment in the college game.

"I don't have enough information to comment clearly,"

"But I'm really disappointed. I would think that there's a lot of people, a lot of fans that are disappointed, too. I know that it's a financial turn that they do and they've got to make their decisions and all, but there's something about the tradition of it that gets lost and I don't know where they recapture that, I don't know how they recapture the traditions that have been there so long.

"It's not just our conference out here, it's around the country too. I really don't understand. I'm pretty disappointed in college football right now. Just in general. Just disappointed it's gone the way it's gone. With all of the stuff that is happening, I hope they can get it right. And it comes out way better than maybe I can imagine it in my limited capacity here. I just kind of like the tradition of it, that I feel like we are missing. I don't know how you recapture that."

Carroll coached the Trojans for nine seasons leading them to a dynasty that brought them back to glory where they belong. He brought along two national champions, four Rose Bowl wins, two Orange Bowl wins and and won the then Pac-10 seven times for seven years in a row. Carroll is nostalgic about the move as he's succeeded and dominated the Conference of Champions.

It won't be the same, and I'm sure many fans aren't happy about it; however, it wasn't working, and a change needed to be made.

The Trojans are a powerhouse and deserve to be linked with the likes of Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, and others. They belong there, and this move to the Big 10 will undoubtedly put them there.

The tradition is dead, which is sad, but new traditions will be brought up, especially on USC's side, where they have some history between Big 10 schools, Michigan and Penn State.

It won't happen overnight, but it will eventually get there between the other historic programs. The change will take some time to get used to; nonetheless, it will be worth it as USC will establish itself in the Big 10 and show they are the team to beat in their new conference and all over the country.

We cannot wait for the shift, but first, the Trojans will leave a lasting mark on whatever will be left of the Pac-12.
