USC Football: Lincoln Riley Prefers This Position For Makai Lemon

Lemon played on both sides of the ball in high school.

Freshman wideout Makai Lemon, who has not seen significant time on the field so far this season, ranked as the No. 50 overall prospect among his class, according to 247Sports.

In high school, he played on both sides of the ball and was a skilled cornerback in addition to an elite receiver.

Lemon practiced with the USC defensive backs on Thursday, according to 247Sports' Connor Morrissette. According to head coach Lincoln Riley, Lemon's chances of entering a game on defense are pretty low, and he was only practicing with the defense in case the Trojans run into problems with their depth at cornerback.

Domani Jackson has missed time this season but is expected to play, while Jacobe Covington and Christian Roland-Wallace got banged up during the Arizona game. All three are expected to play, but in case the worst happens, Lemon will be ready.

However, as the young receiver adapts to life at the next level, Riley confirmed that his "future is at wide receiver."

Lemon was nonexistent in last night's blowout loss, as the depth chart for that position group is quite long. Still, we'll see if he can climb his way up as the season progresses.
