USC Football: Insider Sees NFL Future for Lincoln Riley Alongside Caleb Williams

Could we see this duo succeed at the next level?

USC star QB Caleb Williams is the next best thing since sliced bread... kind of. Seriously though, this guy is good, and it's not an exaggeration to say that he's poised to be the number one pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, barring any unforeseen catastrophes.

Williams has that special something that can transform a franchise overnight, and multiple NFL teams are already eyeing him, even if they're not in a position to draft him currently.

The big question is which team will ultimately get to draft this remarkable talent. We'll have to wait until the end of the NFL season to find out, but the team that lands Williams will likely be one in desperate need of a turnaround, possibly with a new head coach.

This is where college football insider Bruce Feldman enters the conversation with an intriguing idea: What if Caleb's new NFL team went after USC's head coach, Lincoln Riley?

Feldman explained in his appearance on the Rich Eisen show.

"You might be looking for a new head coach, I think, if you're that bad. If you are, do you certainly make a run at Lincoln Riley in his offense? Why wouldn't you? I think, at some point, he will coach in the NFL; that's my own personal opinion; he's never told me that, but that's my gut."

The duo of Riley and Williams has been nothing short of spectacular, with a combined 21-5 record between their time at Oklahoma and USC. Riley has played a significant role in Williams' development and is part of the reason why he's regarded as one of the best quarterback prospects in history.

While it may be a bit of a hot take, the idea isn't entirely absurd. Speculation about Williams' NFL Draft decision is ongoing, but the prospect of having Riley coach him at the next level is undeniably enticing.

Of course, we all hope this scenario doesn't come to pass, and the odds are relatively low. Nevertheless, the thought of this dynamic duo lighting up the NFL for years to come is enough to excite any football fan.
