Coming into this new season, USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams has one goal in mind, and that is to win a National Championship. But individually, he also aims to become the first player in college football since Ohio State running back Archie Griffin in 1975 to win the Heisman Trophy in back-to-back years.

It hasn't been done in almost five decades, but Williams seems to have a pretty decent shot at it. He is the best player in college football and appears to be the consensus favorite to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, it won't be a cakewalk to win the Heisman Trophy again, as there will be other challengers to his award. College Football is stocked full of talented players, and every season, an unexpected player comes out of nowhere to be in the running.

Colorado Buffalos cornerback Travis Hunter recently revealed his Heisman rankings for the season and listed Williams in the third spot. Interestingly enough, Hunter listed himself in the first spot and his teammate quarterback Shedeur Sanders in second place.

This list seems to have a slight bias to it, and Hunter likely was having some fun while making it. Of course, Williams is the favorite to win the award until proven otherwise.

He didn't do anything to discredit that notion in the Trojans' week zero win over San Jose State, throwing for 278 yards and four touchdowns. It looks so easy for Williams out there on the field, and he seems to be getting better each season.

He and the Trojans have some unfinished business to attend to this season. Winning both the Heisman again and a championship would be the send-off that Williams has always dreamed about. But it won't come easy.

Williams is the center of the college football world right now, and he needs to prove every week that he belongs in that spotlight. But if history has shown us anything, Williams should be fine this season, even if he doesn't win the Heisman again.
