Ryan Pellum picks USC, Trojans land 4-star wide receiver
In the world of football recruiting a lot can change in six months.
Back in December, four-star Millikan (Long Beach, Calif.) wide receiver Ryan Pellum released his top ten college finalists and USC didn't make the cut.
On Monday, Pellum committed to the Trojans program live on the 247Sports.com YouTube channel. The pledge came after the USC coaching staff made the decision to make Pellum a priority recruit, which wasn't the case when he released his initial top ten.
The battle for Pellum's commitment ultimately came down to Oregon and USC.
247Sports.com's composite ranks Pellum as the No. 69 prospect nationally in the 2024 class and the No. 14 wide out. He's 5-foot-11 and weighs 170 pounds.
Pellum took an official visit to USC on June 16. He's the tenth recruit to commit to the Trojans in June and the 13th member of the 2024 class overall.
Here's 247Sports.com's scouting report on Pellum:
Pellum is a two-way player who is being recruited primarily as a receiver. He shows the ability to be a game breaker and a true home run hitter from anywhere on the field. He's a natural pass catcher with strong hands and is a smooth route runner. He's explosive after the catch as well and should be an early impact guy in the return game. He’s a fiery competitor, which you like, but it’s also something he needs to reign in at times as his emotions can get the best of him. At his best, he’s an impact player with the talent to play immediately at the college level. He has the skill set and toughness to be big time corner in college as well but prefers the offensive side of the ball.
